Since 2006, FHPCA has produced the Awards of Excellence awards program, and each year hospice programs and employees are recognized for their innovative and hard work. \u00a0This year’s Forum theme “Journey Mapping Our Past, Paving New Roads<\/em>” got us wondering, what journey has the past Award of Excellence winners been on since they’ve won their award? To answer that question, \u00a0we decided to kick off “Where are they now?” starting today and ending at this year’s conference in Orlando. \u00a0So stay tuned to see the past award winners journey – their successes and failures and lessons learned.<\/span><\/p>\n

2006 Volunteer Program Winner –\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Covenant Hospice<\/a> <\/strong><\/h4>\n

Give us an update on your winning program\u2026Is it still in existence? How has it changed or grown since you were first recognized?\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/strong>Our Ambassador volunteer program has grown tremendously and volunteers continue to provide education and access to end-of-life care to the community. The program has expanded to include a veteran\/military component and an assisted living facility component.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How has your program affected patient and\/or community outcomes?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The program has increased Covenant\u2019s outreach to non-healthcare populations, to include churches, civic groups, veteran and military groups, and underserved populations. This program has allowed Covenant to multiply the efforts of marketing employees, utilizing trained volunteers who work under their supervision.<\/span><\/p>\n
